Our storyBuilding safer communities, one tip at a time.
Alberta Crime Stoppers has been part of this province since 1982. For over 40 years, we have worked alongside communities, partners, and volunteers to create a safer Alberta where every person has a safe, simple way to speak up.
We are the bridge between what you notice and what can be done about it.
Alberta Crime Stoppers is a non-profit organization, not a law enforcement agency. We do not investigate crimes. What we do is create a safe, structured path for information to travel: from the person who noticed something, to the people who can act on it.
Our third-party providers receive tips, help to anonymize, and then law enforcement reviews. Every step of our process is designed to protect the community.
We are community-led and volunteer-supported. Our work is funded by donations and sustained by people across Alberta who believe that safety is something we build together.
You share what you know. We take it from there.
When you submit a tip — either by phone, online, or through the app — it comes to us first. Our trained team reviews every tip with care, removing any details that could identify you before anything is shared further.
From there, relevant information is passed to law enforcement. You don’t need to follow up, explain yourself, or be involved in what happens next. That part is ours to carry.
We also work closely with Alberta community organizations to share information about safety risks, run public awareness campaigns, and ensure knowledge about issues like human trafficking, scams, and illicit tobacco reach those who need it.
Always anonymous.
No exceptions.
When you share information with Alberta Crime Stoppers, your anonymity is protected at every step, no matter how you choose to reach out:
By phone:
You speak to a real person. No caller ID. No recorded number. No call trace. You share what you know, we listen, and your identity stays completely private.
Online or by app:
No IP address is collected. No account is required. We review your tip to remove any details that could unintentionally identify you before it goes anywhere.
However you reach us, you will receive a tip ID: a reference number that lets you follow up on your own terms. We will never contact you first.
Forty years of Albertans showing up for each other:
21,450+ arrests,
39,688+ charges laid,
and a $2,000 maximum reward for eligible tips.
Every number above started with someone deciding to say something.
What guides us:
Trusted
We protect the people who come forward. Every time, without exception.
Relevant
We show up where Albertans are, because access is only as good as awareness.
Belonging
Safety is for everyone. We make space for every person to play a part.
Collaboration
We don’t work in isolation. Better outcomes come when information and people connect.
Safety is strongest when we build it together.
Alberta Crime Stoppers works alongside law enforcement agencies, community organizations, and dedicated volunteers across the province. We could not do this work without them, and without the communities they serve.
If you want to be part of what we are building — as a partner, a donor, or a volunteer — we would love to hear from you.
Common questions
-
If something gives you pause — a situation, a behaviour, a pattern — it is worth sharing. You do not need to be certain, and your information does not need to be complete. Crime Stoppers is for non-emergency situations where something feels off but does not warrant calling 911. We review everything we receive and determine the appropriate next step.
-
When you contact Crime Stoppers, you stay completely anonymous, something that cannot be guaranteed with a direct police call. We act as an intermediary: we receive your information, protect your identity, and pass relevant details to law enforcement when appropriate. You do not have to be involved in what happens next.
-
No. Your anonymity is protected at every stage. No personal information is required to submit a tip. Phone calls are not traced or recorded. Online submissions do not collect your IP address. Our team also reviews tips to remove any details that could identify you before sharing anything further. Law enforcement will never know who you are.
-
You can call us directly, submit online, or use the p3tips app. All three options are fully anonymous. Visit our Submit a Tip page for links and more information.
-
Yes. When you submit a tip, you will receive a tip ID. You can use that ID to follow up with us at any time. We will never reach out to you first.

There are no bad tips. The more detail you can share, the more useful your information becomes, but even a small observation can matter. Share what you know, and let us take it from there.
When putting a tip together, try to think through four areas: Who, Where, When, and What. You will not always have answers to all of them, and that is okay.
WHO is involved? A name, nickname, or physical description — age, height, hair colour, clothing, tattoos — all helps. So does knowing where they live, work, or spend time regularly.
WHERE did this happen? A specific address is ideal, but a neighbourhood, nearby intersection, or general description of the location is a useful starting point.
WHEN did you notice this? Was it a one-time thing, or something you have seen more than once? Even a rough timeframe helps build a clearer picture.
WHAT did you see or hear? Describe it in your own words. No detail is too small. Sometimes the thing that seems minor is exactly what connects the dots.
Once you submit, you will receive a tip ID. Keep it. Since we never record your contact information, it is the only way to check for follow-up or find out if your tip is eligible for a reward. The more detail you share the first time, the better.
One important note: please do not investigate on your own. Share what you have already observed and leave the rest to the people equipped to handle it. Your safety matters as much as the information you are sharing.
-
If your tip leads to an arrest, charge, or recovery of property, you may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000. You will be notified through your tip ID, and claiming the reward remains fully anonymous.
